CURRENT PROJECT
Currently ongoing - crowdfunding campaign in progress
Zolani Youth Choir 2027 Invited to Japan
Beyond just the performance, let's foster connections that begin with encounters.
This project is an international youth exchange project that invites the Zolani Youth Choir from South Africa to Japan to foster mutual understanding that transcends national borders, languages, and cultures through "performances" and "cultural exchanges" with Japanese children and students.
Concerts are a platform for sharing the results with society. The main purpose is for young people to learn about each other's cultures, histories, and backgrounds, and to foster mutual understanding and an awareness of peace through music.
Implementation period
We are planning to invite them to Japan in the spring of 2027. Further details will be announced in our announcements and activity information section once they are finalized.

Three objectives
01
Unlocking the potential of children
Through the image of their peers singing with hope even in difficult circumstances, we aim to inspire courage and broaden the perspectives of children across Japan.
02
Mutual understanding and respect for diversity
Through musical exchange that transcends language barriers, we foster a spirit of multicultural coexistence.
03
Inspiring experiences through "co-creation"
Through the process of learning and singing together with Japanese junior and senior high school students and members of Zolani, a sense of unity and accomplishment that transcends language barriers will be created.
About the Zolani Youth Choir
This is a community choir based in Zolani, a small town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, comprised of young people aged 7 to 25. In 2024, they won the grand prize at an international a cappella competition held in Russia.
The role of a choir
Many of the choir members come from townships (former Black residential areas). In an environment plagued by poverty and safety concerns, the choir provides a safe haven for children and creates opportunities for self-expression through song.
The significance of welcoming them to Japan
We will share the very process of choral singing—listening to each other's voices, coordinating our breathing, and respecting one another—with Japanese children and society.

International collaborative project
Under One Sky
This project connects the Zolani Youth Choir, which operates in South African townships (former black residential areas), with people in Japan through song.
Travel to South Africa and joint recording
In 2025, ALŮMA, the group's representative, traveled to South Africa twice and stayed with director Oduwa's family. While immersing herself in local life, she recorded original songs "Under One Sky" and "Love Leads Me On" with the children.
Recording in Japan
Supporters of the crowdfunding campaign and children from Osaka Kaede Nursery School participated in the choral recording. The work, which will feature the voices of both Japan and South Africa blending together, is scheduled for release in 2026.
Educational programs for the next generation
Currently, the song is being arranged as a choral piece for junior and senior high school students. A large-scale collaboration with Japanese students and choirs is planned for a Japan tour in March 2027.
Local support
HANA PAD for Zolani
Having witnessed the deterioration of sanitary conditions at the training venue (such as the destruction of toilets), we are exploring ways to support improvements to the local environment.
In response to the current situation where educational opportunities are being hindered due to a shortage of menstrual products, we launched a project to donate cloth menstrual pads. In October 2025, we directly distributed them to 50 female members of a choir.

Continuous exchange
VOX TERRA
Through the choral group "VOX TERRA" (with 55 members), we are building a community where people in Japan can regularly experience and support cultures and rhythms from around the world, including Africa.
